Dutch diploma apostille and legalisation

I help arrange Dutch diploma legalisation, apostilles, translations and international delivery. Submit your document details for a personal review and proposal.

A Dutch diploma is not always ready for use abroad.

An education document can be correct in content but still be rejected if the format, stamp, signature, apostille, legalisation, translation or copy does not meet the requirements of the foreign party.

That is why it is important to review the exact wording from the university, employer, authority or professional body before choosing a document route.

Have you not requested your diploma yet?

Before ordering a replacement diploma, certified copy, transcript or other education document, consider contacting Apostille Assist first. Depending on your situation, a different document route may reduce unnecessary shipping, avoid additional preparation, or simplify the apostille or legalisation process.

When is this often requested?

✓Admission to a foreign university, college or education programme.
✓Credential evaluation, professional registration or work abroad.
✓Immigration procedures, visa applications or international files.
✓When an organisation asks for apostille, legalisation, translation or verification.

DUO legalisation, apostille and translation are different steps

For many Dutch education documents the steps follow each other. The receiving organisation and destination country determine which parts are necessary.

1

DUO legalisation

DUO first checks whether the original Dutch education document and recognised programme meet its requirements. Eligible documents are legalised by DUO before the international authentication step.

2

Apostille or legalisation

For an apostille country, a Dutch district court can add the apostille after DUO. For another destination, the route may continue through the Consular Service Centre and sometimes an embassy or consulate.

3

Certified translation

Translation is a separate language step. DUO does not translate educational documents. The receiving organisation decides which language, translator and document order it accepts.

Current DUO document requirements: the education document must generally be original, complete, printed on original paper from the educational institution and signed by its representative. The programme must also be officially recognised. A digital extract from Mijn diploma’s is official proof, but it is not automatically the same document route as an original paper diploma submitted for legalisation.

Start with a document intake

Every diploma request is different. A short intake helps me understand your document, its destination and the requirements before I prepare a suitable proposal.

Tell me about your diploma

Share the document type, where it will be used and any instructions from the receiving organisation. I will review the information and contact you about the next steps and applicable service costs.

How the diploma route usually starts

You do not need to work out every legalisation step in advance. The intake gives me the information needed to review your request.

1

Send your request

Tell me which diploma or education document you have and where it will be used.

2

Share the requirements

Send the wording, checklist or requirement from the university, employer, authority or professional body.

3

I review the scope

I review the document requirements, relevant authorities and practical coordination needed.

4

Receive your proposal

If support is possible, the practical scope, service fee and external costs are confirmed before work starts.

Frequently asked questions

Does every Dutch diploma need an apostille?

No. It depends on the country, receiving organisation and document type. Sometimes an apostille is needed, sometimes legalisation, translation, verification or a certified copy is required.

Do I also need a translation?

That depends on the language accepted by the foreign party. Sometimes an English or international-format document is enough. In other cases, a certified translation is required.

Can a copy of my diploma be used?

Sometimes, but the receiving party may require a certified copy and may specify who must certify it. The foreign organisation ultimately decides which form it accepts.

Can Apostille Assist guarantee that my diploma will be accepted?

No. The foreign institution or authority decides whether a document is accepted. Apostille Assist helps with the Dutch document route and practical coordination.

What happens after I submit the intake?

I review the information you provide, assess the relevant document route and contact you about what I can arrange and the applicable costs. Submitting the intake does not commit you to a service.

What should I send first?

Send the wording, checklist or exact requirement from the foreign party. That usually gives the clearest picture of the required document route.

Is this legal or education advice?

No. Apostille Assist provides document route review and practical document coordination, not legal, immigration, tax, property or education advice.
