The authority asked for an apostille
after rejecting my document.
Did a foreign authority reject your Dutch document and then specifically request an apostille? Apostille Assist checks whether the same document is suitable for the Dutch court route and coordinates straightforward submission or any missing Dutch preparation step.
Choose the right level of support
Use apostille submission when the authority has clearly requested an apostille and the rejected document is already suitable for court submission. Choose document coordination when the document form, signature, issuing body or wider rejection reason still needs to be resolved.
Apostille Submission
For a suitable Dutch document when the foreign authority’s apostille request is explicit.
- Submission for a Dutch apostille
- For the correct document in an apostille-ready form
- WhatsApp progress updates
Document Coordination
For a rejection involving an unsuitable copy, prior legalisation, translation or additional documents.
- Review of the rejection and the document submitted
- Coordination of the agreed Dutch-side correction route
- External costs confirmed before work begins
Confirm exactly what was rejected
An apostille request may solve an authenticity issue, but only if the underlying Dutch document is the correct one.
Check whether the document is apostille-ready
The court must be able to recognise the relevant Dutch signature, name and official capacity.
From rejection to apostilled resubmission
Use the authority’s exact message to keep the correction limited to what is actually required.
Share the rejection
Send the authority’s message and the Dutch document that was submitted.
Confirm suitability
Check the document form, signature, issuing body and destination route.
Complete the apostille
Arrange any necessary prior step and submit the suitable document.
Return for resubmission
Coordinate tracked delivery with the rejection reference where relevant.
It confirms the relevant signature, seal or official capacity. If the rejection also concerns document content, age, translation, missing pages or eligibility, those issues must be resolved separately.
Why use Apostille Assist?
Rejection matched to document
The authority’s wording is compared with the exact Dutch record submitted.
Simple route stays simple
A suitable apostille-only request can remain within straightforward submission.
Missing steps identified
Prior legalisation or a replacement is addressed before another failed submission.

Frequently asked questions
Should I request an apostille immediately after the rejection?
First confirm that the rejected Dutch document is the correct official version and is suitable for the court. An apostille on the wrong document will not solve the problem.
Can the same rejected document receive the apostille?
Possibly, if it is the correct official document with a recognised signature and no prior step is missing. A scan or informal copy is usually not enough.
What if the authority also requests translation?
Confirm whether translation follows apostille and which translator status it accepts. Translation is a separate requirement from document authentication.
Does the apostille guarantee acceptance after resubmission?
No. It addresses authenticity. The authority retains the final decision on content, format, recency, eligibility and acceptance.
Who places the apostille on the document?
The competent Dutch court issues and physically places the apostille. Apostille Assist independently coordinates the agreed submission route.
Which service applies if only the apostille is missing?
If the correct apostille-ready document is available and the requirement is explicit, the fixed Apostille Submission service may apply. Wider corrections require Document Coordination.
Was an apostille requested after rejection?
Share the rejection and a scan of the Dutch document so straightforward submission or any missing preparation step can be confirmed.
