Starting a new job abroad
with Dutch documents.
A foreign employer, licensing body or immigration authority may request Dutch diplomas, transcripts, a VOG, employment records or civil-status documents. Apostille Assist helps map the checklist and coordinates the agreed Dutch request, prior legalisation, apostille, translation and delivery steps.
Choose the right level of support
Use apostille submission when the accepted Dutch document is already available in a suitable form and the apostille requirement is confirmed. Choose document coordination when several records, an issuing body, prior legalisation, translation or professional-registration instructions still need attention.
Apostille Submission

- Submission for a Dutch apostille
- For a document already suitable for the confirmed route

Document Coordination
For an employment file involving document selection, issuing bodies, prior legalisation, translation or delivery.
- Review of the employer or authority checklist
- Coordination of the agreed Dutch-side document route
- External costs confirmed before work begins
Employment files can contain different evidence
The employer and any government or professional authority may each request a separate Dutch document.
Each issuing source has its own route
A municipal certificate, VOG, diploma and privately signed employment letter do not automatically follow the same apostille procedure.

Frequently asked questions
Which Dutch documents may be needed for a job abroad?
Common requests include a diploma, transcript, VOG, employment statement, professional certificate and civil-status records. The employer and relevant authorities determine the exact set.
Does a Dutch diploma go directly to the court for apostille?
Not usually. DUO states that eligible Dutch educational documents must meet its requirements and be legalised before the court apostille step.
Can an employment reference receive an apostille?
Not automatically. A privately issued or signed letter may first need an accepted certification or notarial step. Confirm the required document form before proceeding.
Does an apostille prove that I am qualified for the job?
No. It authenticates the relevant Dutch signature or official capacity. Qualification recognition and hiring decisions remain with the foreign employer or regulator.
Do the documents need certified translation?
That depends on the accepted language and procedure. Confirm the translator status, documents and order before commissioning translation.
Can the route be coordinated before I move abroad?
Yes. Dutch-side document steps can often be coordinated while you prepare the move, subject to access, identity, authorisation and original-paper requirements.
