Which version of the deed is required?
The foreign recipient may distinguish between the original minute, an issued copy, an extract and a notarial certified copy.
Issued notarial copy
The Dutch notary supplies the version that may leave the notarial protocol and be used externally.
Recognised notary signature
The document must carry the notarial signature and formalities required for court authentication.
Foreign presentation
Translation, attachments and whether the apostille itself must be translated depend on the recipient.
Common notarial deeds used abroad

Deed of incorporation, Articles of Association, amendment or share-related instrument.
Family or inheritance deed
Prenuptial agreement, will-related record, estate deed or declaration of inheritance.

Frequently asked questions
Can the original notarial minute be taken abroad?
Generally the notary retains the minute. An official copy or extract is normally issued for external use.
Does every copy of a notarial deed qualify?
No. An ordinary photocopy is not the same as an issued notarial copy or certified copy carrying a recognised signature.
What does the apostille authenticate?
It authenticates the recognised signature and capacity of the notary, not the substantive legal effect abroad.
Should translation happen before or after apostille?
The correct order depends on what the foreign recipient wants translated and authenticated.
Can Apostille Assist request a new copy from the notary?
This may be possible with the required client authority and notary cooperation as part of Document Coordination.
