Can I request an Amsterdam birth certificate with DigiD?
Amsterdam provides an online route for civil-status document requests. If the birth was registered in Amsterdam and you qualify to request the record, DigiD can be used for the online application.
Do I need to live in Amsterdam now?
No. For a birth certificate, the important point is where the birth was registered. If your birth was registered in Amsterdam, Amsterdam holds the civil-status record even if you now live elsewhere.
Can I have the Amsterdam certificate delivered to Apostille Assist?
Where the online request allows another delivery address or additional delivery instructions, you can use those options to ask for the original to be sent directly into your Apostille Assist route.
Does the Municipality of Amsterdam put the apostille on the birth certificate?
No. Amsterdam issues the birth certificate, but the municipality does not add the apostille. That is where Apostille Assist comes in: the suitable original can be sent there and I arrange the Dutch apostille.
Do I share my DigiD details with Apostille Assist?
No. Never share your DigiD login details. You make the Amsterdam application yourself and I handle the agreed physical document steps afterwards.
Does an Amsterdam birth certificate always need an apostille abroad?
No. Apostille requirements depend on the destination country and receiving authority. Some procedures may follow a different route.
Can you send the apostilled certificate outside the Netherlands?
Yes. I can arrange trackable international delivery once the agreed Dutch steps are complete.
What if direct delivery is not available in my application?
You can still request the birth certificate yourself with DigiD, receive the original and then forward it to Apostille Assist for the apostille step.
