Dutch documents
for use in Qatar.

Need to use a Dutch document in Doha or elsewhere in Qatar? This page gives you an overview of common document types and the support available from the Netherlands.

Dutch documents for Qatar use

The document type matters.

A Dutch company extract, diploma, birth certificate or signed legal document can each have a different route before it is accepted in Qatar.

This page brings the main document categories together in one place, so you can go straight to the information that is relevant to your document.

If the organisation in Qatar has given you specific wording, it is useful to keep that request with the document. That helps avoid unnecessary steps or the wrong version being prepared.

What can change the route?

The same document can be requested for different reasons.

A document needed for employment may be handled differently from one requested for a company, residency or legal matter. The purpose matters because the receiving organisation decides what it wants to see.

Employment or licensing Employers and professional bodies may request diplomas, certificates or other evidence issued in the Netherlands.
Company or banking Banks, free zones and corporate service providers may ask for KVK extracts or other Dutch company records.
Residency or family matters Birth, marriage and other civil-status documents are commonly requested for personal procedures.
Legal or notarial use Powers of attorney, declarations and signed documents often need to be checked based on how and where they were signed.
Before you send the document

Keep the Qatar request together with the document.

If an employer, authority, bank, university or other organisation has told you what it needs, send that wording with the document. It is often more useful than trying to interpret terms such as “attested”, “legalised” or “certified” on your own.

Document version Some procedures require a recent original or certified paper document rather than a scan or older copy.
Language The receiving organisation may accept Dutch or English, or it may ask for a translation as part of the final package.
Receiving organisation What is accepted can differ between employers, banks, free zones, universities and government bodies.
Delivery Once the agreed document handling is complete, the original can be returned in the Netherlands or shipped internationally where needed.
Legalisation overview

An apostille alone is not the Qatar route.

Qatar is not a party to the Hague Apostille Convention. Dutch documents intended for Qatar generally require authentication appropriate to the document, followed by legalisation through the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Qatari consular authorities.

The first step differs for civil-status certificates, diplomas, company documents and privately signed documents. Embassy submission requirements, translation and any additional Qatar-side steps should be checked for the specific document before the originals are sent.

Frequently asked questions.

Do all Dutch documents follow the same route for Qatar use?

No. A company extract, diploma, civil-status certificate and notarial document can each require a different route. The issuing authority and the request from the Qatar organisation both matter.

Can you help if I already have the Dutch document?

Yes. Send me a scan or clear photo together with the request from the receiving organisation. I can review the document and confirm what I can coordinate from the Netherlands.

Can you obtain a Dutch document for me?

For some document types, yes. Whether this is possible depends on the issuing authority, identification requirements and whether authorisation or representation is accepted.

What if the Qatari organisation says the document must be legalised?

If consular legalisation is required, send me the document details so I can check the Dutch preparation and consular legalisation steps.

Can the completed document be sent directly to Qatar?

Yes, international express delivery can be included where appropriate. The delivery address and courier cost can be confirmed as part of the route.
