no appeal
Netherlands
Evidence that no appeal was lodged against a divorce decision.
A certificate of no appeal, known in Dutch as an akte non-appèl, is a court-issued statement confirming that no appeal was filed against the relevant judgment. It may be requested when registering or recognising a Dutch divorce outside the European Union.
We help assess the applicable request route and coordinate the process with Amsterdam District Court, subject to the court's requirements.
Why might you need it?
- Registering a Dutch divorce outside the EU
- Recognition of marital status abroad
- Preparing to remarry in another country
- Supporting a foreign administrative procedure
Always confirm the required documents, translation and legalisation with the receiving authority.
From the court request to international delivery.
We can help you navigate the application and coordinate additional steps where needed.

If an apostille is requested, we assess the suitable legalisation route for the issued document.
Worldwide delivery
We can coordinate tracked international shipping and sworn translation where required.
Four steps to getting started.
Tell us what you need
Share the destination country, whether Amsterdam District Court handled the divorce and which documents you already have.
We assess the requirements and quote
The court may request the divorce decree, proof that the divorce was registered, your contact details and a copy of identification. We explain the proposed scope and service costs before proceeding.
The court request is submitted
The court processes the application and sends the certificate by post. It is not normally issued immediately at the public counter.
International formalities if required
Once a suitable document is issued, we coordinate any agreed apostille, translation and delivery services.
What information is needed?
Amsterdam District Court requires supporting documentation for a certificate of no appeal following divorce. If something is missing, we can discuss the appropriate next step.
Useful documents and details
- Divorce decree
- Proof of registration of the divorce
- Applicant's name, address and telephone number
- Copy of identification
- Court case number, if available
Do not send sensitive identity documents through an initial public enquiry. We can agree on an appropriate method first.
How much does a certificate of no appeal cost?
Amsterdam District Court does not charge a court fee for a certificate of no appeal following divorce or dissolution of a registered partnership. Apostille Assist charges a separate fee for the agreed assistance. Apostille, translation and courier costs are quoted separately where applicable.
You may also request the certificate directly from the court without using our service. We are an independent commercial provider.
Questions about certificates of no appeal.
When can I request a certificate of no appeal?
Usually after the three-month appeal period has expired without an appeal against the divorce decision. Different circumstances, including appeals concerning other parts of the judgment, can affect the route.
Is a certificate of no appeal the same as a divorce decree?
No. The divorce decree is the court's decision; the certificate of no appeal confirms the appeal status of that decision.
Can I collect the certificate immediately at the court?
No. Amsterdam District Court processes the request and sends the certificate by post, even if the application is submitted at the counter.
Do I need the same certificate for an EU country?
Not necessarily. An EU divorce certificate under the relevant Brussels II rules may be appropriate. Ask the receiving authority what it requires.
Does the certificate need an apostille?
That depends on the destination country and the receiving authority. We can assess the applicable route before arranging additional legalisation.
Can I start the process from abroad?
Yes. You can contact us remotely. We will assess whether we can coordinate the request and what identification or authorisation may be required.
