Foreign university requested your Dutch diploma? Get legalisation support
If a foreign university, admissions office or credential evaluator has asked for proof of your Dutch degree, I can help you work out exactly what they need and coordinate the Dutch-side steps. Depending on the request, this may involve your diploma, transcript, diploma supplement, a certified copy, DUO legalisation, apostille, sworn translation or an official university statement.
Get the right Dutch documents ready for your university
Useful when a foreign university gives you a checklist but it is not immediately clear which Dutch document, certification or legalisation step they actually expect.

Admission offices often ask for academic records
Foreign universities commonly request Dutch education documents for master's or PhD admission, exchange programmes, scholarships, credential evaluation or recognition of earlier study.
Diploma, transcript or diploma supplement?
A request for “proof of degree” does not always mean that your diploma alone is enough. The university may actually require a transcript, diploma supplement, certified copy, official statement or documents sent directly by the Dutch institution.
University requests are not the same as employer requests
University admission requests often have their own submission rules. I therefore start with the wording you received instead of assuming that every Dutch diploma simply needs an apostille.
Admissions deadline
Preparation may need to match a deadline, portal or enrolment condition.
Direct submission
The Dutch institution may need to send the documents directly.
Credential evaluation
Evaluators may compare transcripts, ECTS, study load and degree level.
How the foreign university route works
Send me the checklist, email or portal wording you received. From there, the required Dutch documents and next steps can usually be mapped out clearly.
Share the checklist
Send the admission checklist, portal wording, registrar email or credential evaluation request.
Identify the exact documents
I check whether the university is asking for your diploma, transcript, diploma supplement, certified copy or another official degree statement.
Check the formalities
I review whether DUO legalisation, apostille, sworn translation, a certified copy or sealed/direct delivery is relevant.
Coordinate the Dutch side
Once the route is clear, I can coordinate the agreed steps in the Netherlands and arrange tracked delivery where needed.

Frequently asked questions
Does a foreign university usually need my diploma or transcript?
It depends on the programme and institution. Many admissions offices ask for both a diploma or degree certificate and an academic transcript.
What is a diploma supplement?
A diploma supplement can explain the level, content and structure of a Dutch degree. Some foreign universities or evaluators request it alongside the diploma.
Can the documents be sent directly by the university?
Some foreign universities require direct submission from the issuing institution. Others allow the applicant to submit certified or apostilled documents.
Is apostille required for university admission?
Not always. Some universities ask for apostille, while others only need certified copies, official transcripts or translations.
Do transcripts need sworn translation?
Possibly. If the receiving university does not accept Dutch or English, a sworn translation may be required.
What if the application portal only says official documents?
That wording is too broad. It is useful to clarify whether they mean original documents, certified copies, apostilled documents, sealed transcripts or direct institutional submission.
