Need a copy of your Dutch divorce settlement agreement?

A divorce settlement agreement (echtscheidingsconvenant) records arrangements made between former spouses, such as property, finances or maintenance. If it formed part of your divorce case, it may be available among the court records.

We assess whether Amsterdam District Court can provide a certified copy, which information or authorisation is required, and whether the agreement was actually filed with the court. Access and availability are not guaranteed.

Common reasons clients contact us

  • Property or financial arrangements after divorce
  • Maintenance or support arrangements
  • Overseas legal or administrative proceedings
  • Evidence of agreed divorce terms
  • Replacing a missing settlement agreement

The receiving authority decides which documents and legalisations are acceptable.

One coordinated service

More than simply requesting a copy.

The fee depends on whether the agreement is available in the court file, whether an official copy can be issued, and which legalisation, translation and shipping services are needed. We quote the agreed service scope and identify applicable third-party charges separately.

⚖

Official agreement request

We assess the route for obtaining the settlement agreement from the court file, if it is held there and you are entitled to receive it.

✦

Apostille coordination

If an apostille is required, we check whether the issued document is suitable and coordinate the applicable procedure.

↗

Worldwide delivery

Need the documents overseas? We can arrange tracked international courier shipping and discuss sworn translation if requested.

How it works

From your enquiry to the finished document.

01

Tell us about your settlement agreement

Share the former spouses’ names, approximate divorce date, and any decree, case number or copy you have. Tell us which country needs the document.

02

We assess the request and quote

We check the appropriate procedure, access requirements and whether authorisation or identification is needed. You receive the proposed scope and costs before we begin.

03

We coordinate the court request

We arrange the agreed steps for requesting the document. Issuance and processing times depend on the court and the circumstances of the case.

04

Apostille, translation and delivery if needed

Once a suitable document is available, we coordinate the additional agreed steps and dispatch it to your preferred delivery address.

What we need

Don't have a case number? You can still enquire.

An approximate date or old decree can help locate the file. We first check whether the settlement agreement was included in the court proceedings.

Helpful information

  • Names of the former spouses
  • Approximate date or year of divorce
  • Whether Amsterdam District Court handled the case
  • Country where the document will be used
  • Any request for an apostille or translation

Please do not send sensitive identification documents through an initial public enquiry unless we have agreed a suitable method.

Transparent scope

What does it cost?

The fee depends on whether you already have the decree, whether an official copy must be requested, and which international formalities are required. We provide a tailored quotation for the agreed work. Official court charges, apostille fees, translation and courier delivery are identified separately where applicable.

You may also be able to request eligible court documents directly. Apostille Assist is an independent coordination service, not the court.

Frequently asked questions

Questions about Dutch divorce settlement agreements.

What is a Dutch divorce settlement agreement?

An echtscheidingsconvenant is an agreement between former spouses about the consequences of divorce. It is different from the divorce decree (echtscheidingsbeschikking), which is the court decision.

Can I request the agreement from Amsterdam District Court?

Potentially, if it was submitted as part of the divorce case and the court can release a copy to you. We assess the request route, file availability and authorisation requirements.

What if the agreement was not filed with the court?

The court may not hold a copy. Depending on your circumstances, your former lawyer or notary may be another possible source.

Can you help if I live outside the Netherlands?

Yes. You can start the enquiry remotely. We will explain which information and authorisation may be needed.

Does a divorce settlement agreement need an apostille?

That depends on the document’s form and the receiving authority’s requirements. We check the appropriate legalisation route; not every private agreement can be apostilled directly.

Can you arrange translation and international delivery?

Yes. Where needed, we can coordinate sworn translation and tracked international delivery as separate services.
