The Apostille Convention is due to take effect for Vietnam on 11 September 2026. If your Dutch document will be used around this transition, I can check the document and the receiving organisation’s request before anything is submitted.
The new Convention is not yet in force for Vietnam, so do not assume the new apostille route already applies.
Eligible public documents can fall under the Apostille Convention where it is in force between Vietnam and the other Convention state concerned.
The document type and the requirements of the organisation in Vietnam still matter. I can review these before coordinating the Dutch side.
Vietnam joined the Apostille Convention.
Vietnam deposited its instrument of accession on 31 December 2025. The Convention is scheduled to enter into force for Vietnam on 11 September 2026 in relation to Convention states that did not object to Vietnam’s accession.
What this means for Dutch documents
The change is designed to simplify the cross-border use of eligible public documents by replacing the traditional legalisation chain with an apostille between states where the Convention applies. It does not mean that every document automatically needs an apostille or that every receiving organisation will ask for the same supporting documents.
